Which food, when you eat it, instantly transports you to childhood?

Warm delicious comfort food that went a long way and was affordable is just right for the tummy. And when it’s made for you by a loved one, it tastes even better.
On Sunday mornings before Church, or when we were home for dinner. This is one of the meals that reminded me of my childhood. The comfort food that truly was comforting. It filled me up and stayed with me till dinner time.
Southern cooking. And to me my Grandmother was the best cook in the world. Yes, I am sorry to say better than my Mothers because my Mother was a working Mom back then.
Praising GOD on Sunday, eating a good meal and meeting your Church family was like food for the soul and food for the body all in one day!
And let’s not forget the slab bacon slice you get with your grits and one egg. As a child, I had a glass of milk or juice to wash it down. π
That’s not a video of my Grandmother cooking the bacon. But l remember what I ate, and learned how to fix it in a cast iron skillet as she did.
She was a wise GODLY woman. Taught me how to be like her. And to make a good breakfast. Thank you GOD for my Grandmother and the wisdom she gave me.
