Today , I was looking for ideas on some gardening in containers I have not thought of before. Living in zone 5b, there is not too many things that will survive the winter frost here in Upstate NY. Many of us lost some of our fruit trees and that was not good.
I did come to a YouTube video on VOX regarding growing flowers and veggies in vacant lots in downstate Brooklyn NY though. From what I have found that was interesting to me that there were 2 women who wanted to add trees and beautify the land with plants and veggies for those who needed food.
Project eats is one of them.

It is good to see people helping each other, especially when it comes to getting food to eat. Above is a picture of Lindas roof top garden. Making New York City greener!

Hattie Carthan was an activist to grow tree in the area of brooklyn that was red lined by real estate. There were less trees in the poor areas than the wealthier areas. She helped to plant trees to better the air quality.

Elizabeth Christy known as Liz Christy, was also an activist to make Brooklyn greener.

If you have time look into how these two women have started a trend of using the vacant lots in the area where they lived. There are many areas all over the earth that has space to grow food if given the supplies and knowledge to do so. It is hard work, but if you enjoy gardening and showing others how to grow food you all will be filled with joy in the end result.

Romans 12:20
‘If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.‘
James 2:15-16
‘Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?
This may not seem like much to talk about. When you see the rising cost of groceries today, and how people need food, it put ideas in my mind too to help feed people. Like with the extra food you cant store or preserve have a free stand for those to get food. Give some to the elderly. Homeless shelters if you can. What ever it is that you are lead to do by GOD.
Peace and blessings!
